When we modify our behavior to the standards of the majority to function in a society, we must never lose our separate views and identity.
… When this happens, the society becomes vulnerable to unsupervised control by the controlling forces over its citizens.
We must remain separate from the whole; yet still serve the separate as well as the whole.
Being a “nonconformist” is your right.
… put your nonconformity to constructive use.
Are we ever allowed to be ourselves? How much are we allowed to be ourselves? How far will society allow us to be individuals?

Innocence can be deceptive, in the sense that maybe the truly innocent can see what others cannot.
In the pursuit of knowledge, we must walk forward, but carefully. We must let technology carry us into the future, not lead us. We must guide it with a loving and controlling hand.
We cannot limit technology or we force it underground.
… My greatest fear is that those who have the consciousness to use technology shun it. Those whom we need to guide technology the most, will not touch it in this time of technological infancy.
… In order to survive into the future, we must move beyond our evolutionary instinct.
… However, I fear that in the process, that which is inevitable for growth, important aspects of our instinct for survival, may be lost.

We need diversity of control.
No one person or group should be in complete charge
… Society will naturally look for leadership, unfortunately even if it is not in their best interest.
If we have not yet outgrown the need for leaders as a species, then why can we not at least follow or listen to our scientists for knowledge, philosophers for temperament, and those who are truly spiritual for morality, of various areas of expertise and beliefs? They are not perfect; no one is; but they devote themselves to understanding the world around us.
… Do we not deserve leaders who are more concerned about the long term rather than the time between now and the end of their administration?
We should always question authority to keep it from getting too powerful for society to control. If society loses control over authority, then we lose our own authority.

The majority may be wrong sometimes, but we must have true democracy in order to find the truth of leadership and policies within ourselves.
If the majority says it is “no,” then it is “no.” If you think the majority is wrong, then it is your duty to explain why they are wrong.
Following the rules of the majority does not mean the minority must be deprived.
We all have an inner force that pushes us forward. This force pushes us constantly. This force is neither evil nor good. It is neither right nor wrong. It is what we should do or should not. It is neither pleasurable nor painful. It is the human drive. …
